Linear Pendants

Modern Wood Lighting | Handmade NC

Our linear pendants are minimal, levitating slabs of decorative hardwoods subtly emitting warm white light. They are solid suspended lines creating focus and illumination for places of conversation, work and gathering.

Our favorite aspects of these fixtures are the visibility of the continuous rich wood grain on the sides of the lights, the hidden light source, the super minimal hanging hardware and the light-hearted accent of the color cord.

How they are made

The production of a linear pendant starts with the selection of the most beautiful pieces of Appalachian Ash, Cherry, Oak or Walnut from our local North Carolina lumber supplier.

We mill the raw lumber in our woodworking studio in the River Arts District of Asheville and only the character cuts make it to our CNC router table where the channels for the LED diffuser and wiring are cut. The wood slabs are then sanded by hand and are sealed with applications of linseed oil and beeswax.

The electrical components are installed in our finishing studio, together with our German stainless hanging hardware and the cord in the clients’ choice of color.

Product Specs

Standard lengths for our linear pendants are 48”, 60”, 72”, 84” and 96” but custom sizes can be fabricated. The height of the linear pendants is approximately 2.75” and the width is 2.25”, but slight variations in size are common due to the unique handmade nature of each piece. If a more substantial look is desired, the height and width of the wood slab can be increased.

The light source is a 24V 2700K LED strip producing a bright 310 lumens/ft. The LEDs as well as the LED driver supplied with the light fixture are fully dimmable using an appropriate dimmer.
