Ring Pendants
Our ring pendants offer another layer in complexity, both in visual suspense as well as fabrication process. The ring as a symbol of protection and renewal materializes into a light fixture that radiates a communal energy.
Our favorite aspects of the ring light fixtures are the glow of the interior wood face of the wood ring, the substantial presence of the pendant and the option of having the light source be at the top or bottom of the pendant for up-lighting or down-lighting.
How they are made
The fabrication of the ring light begins with the selection of up to 40 board feet of Ash, Cherry, Oak or Walnut lumber from our lumber yard. The lumber is jointed, planed and sanded in our woodworking studio in Asheville’s River Arts District and the resulting boards are connected to accommodate the circular shape of the fixture.
With the help of our CNC router, the diffuser channel is cut into the wood and the circular form of the fixture is sculpted.
As with our linear pendants, the electrical components are installed in our finishing studio, together with our German stainless hanging hardware and the cord in the clients’ choice of color.
Product Specs
Standard dimensions for our ring pendants are 27” and 38” in diameter. The height of the ring pendants is approximately 2.75” and the width of the ring is 3.00”, but slight variations in size are common due to the unique handmade nature of each piece. The minimum required hanging height is 24” from ceiling to bottom of light.
The light source is a 24V 2700K LED strip producing a bright 310 lumens/ft. The LEDs as well as the LED driver supplied with the light fixture are fully dimmable using an appropriate dimmer.
